James, my car is a manual and my last car (scirocco) was DSG, I really couldn't give a toss between them but I was buying new, I really wouldn't pay the premium for DSG as you will never see the money back when you sell it on.

Neither is better, they are just different and both have merits as have been debated at length as you know. I certainly don't feel like DSG is a must have new technology.

I have thoughts, sometimes i keep them to myself, also sometimes i have to make decisions, i make them all by myself to.

...but, on your DSG sticker, its not really new tech now, its been around a while in different guises so its pretty reliable, also your buying a brandspanker of a car, Warranty is your friend. but.....like yourself...id always choose a manual for driver fun. DSG can make a bad driver quick, but manual still requires a bit of skill an its just a shed load more fun

Thnx, RJ - that's pretty well how I feel - maybe I'll stick with manual and just ignore the niggles, however heavy they get

James, a wise woman once told me you will never miss what you've never had.

I really like the DSG, but if you're actively keen on manual cars then I'd say you should get the manual.

The DSG can be jerkier at low speeds without a clutch to control, and sometimes it changes gear when you weren't expecting it (you can use the paddles to avoid this though).  To me, the plusses far outweigh this because I was never that enamoured with a gearstick anyway.  But if you buy all that stuff about manual cars having control and being engaging and so on, then have a manual.

I'll stick with manual or I'll suddenly spring into action and, on the spur of the moment, I'll change to DSG - either way, I'll get a build date and then whatever I've decided, that's what I'll get - I don't think I'll care either way...
