The little 3 at the bottom says you can't spec them together.

If the GTI already has the Convenience Pack as standard, that would indicate that you can't order the Lux Pack with it.  You can either have one or the other.  If I had to choose, I would take the Convenience Pack - but ideally I'd have both!
If you guys are saying that you have both - then great - but I can see what the dealer is saying.

The salesman really should be shot as others have said.

The confusion in the pricelist is because on a GTI / R (i presume) the convenience pack comes as standard. So you can't possible spec for the 2 of them so when you spec the Luxury pack, all it really does is add "Electrically foldable door mirrors, door mirror puddle lights and reverse activated kerb-view adjustment on passenger’s door mirror" to the convenience pack and is then called the Luxury pack that is why it only costs an extra £115

The pricelist is like that because on my car a "GT" it doesn't come with either convenience or luxury packs so you might get someone trying to add both but in effect the Luxury pack has everything the convenience pack has plus the mirrors. That is why it cost me an extra £205 to get the pack.

Hope that has sorted it for you.

And don't ever listen to salesmen again

I spoke to the salesman today.
I asked him to phone VW and confirm the situation with adding the Lux Pack with the Convenience pack.

He called back about 20 mins later and told me that I would get everything, but lose out on the Come Home lights if I took them both together.

Can anyone confirm this?  I liked the coming home lights on my ED30!!

You can't physically have them together!

You can't physically have them together!

So this is correct?
As standard on a GTI / R I would get come home lights, auto dimming rear view mirror, rain sensing wipers, auto lights, and footwell lights.

If I spec the Lux Pack onto it I then get:
folding mirrors, kerb view mirror, puddle lights, auto dimming rear mirror, rain sensing wipers, auto lights and footwell lights - but I lose out on the come home lights?

Seems odd - but thats what the dealer is suggesting!

I don't know if I've got the come home lights or not because I don't use them.  (I've got a strip light in the garage, and a motion-sensor-activated security light outside it.)  If I get a chance, I'll have a fiddle and see if the option's there.

I cannot see why the luxury pack should in any way make it impossible to retain that feature.

It doesn't really make sense to me either.
I'd appreciate it if you could check if you get a spare minute.  I'll probably go with the Lux Pack anyway - as coming home lights aren't a major thing... but they are quite handy in a dark car park!
My order is on hold until I decide - although a day or 2 isn't going to make a huge difference on a 4+ month wait (plus my prior 5 months!).

I don't know why I've bothered as you obviously ignored my other posts

From VW:
Convenience pack: Automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, automatic headlights on
with coming/leaving home lighting function, front footwell illumination
and rain sensor.

That is standard on a GTI. You CAN'T remove that.

So by adding the luxury pack you will now have:

Luxury pack: Automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, automatic headlights on with
coming/leaving home lighting function, electrically foldable door mirrors,
door mirror puddle lights, reverse activated kerb-view adjustment on
passenger’s door mirror, front footwell illumination and rain sensor

Have a look here http://cdn.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/common/pdf/pricelists/golf-gti-vi-pricelist.pdf at page 6 where it says "Additional items of equipment GTD (over GT)"

– 2Zone electronic climate control with automatic
air recirculation
– Automatic coming/leaving home lighting function
– Dusk sensor, automatic driving lights
– Front fog lights
– Front footwell illumination
– Rain sensor and automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror
– Steering wheel including paddle shift (auto DSG only)

The GTI gets all that as standard as well as
– Sports suspension, lowered by approx. 22 mm front, 15 mm rear

I'm not ignoring you
I'm just a bit confused by what the dealer has said.
OK... he didn't know what he was talking about for a start - but then he's actually gone and phoned VW who told him I'll get everything apart from Coming Home lights.
Seems like a ridiculous thing to say as why would they effect anything.

I'm going to phone back today and add the Lux Pack anyway!

The coming home lights are a pain anyhow on the mk6 as you have to manualy set them everytime you get out the car by flashing the main beam twice (if anyones walking/driving past you get strange looks as they think you are flashing them etc) much prefer the mk5 ones, i cant understand why they done this unless it saves VW money which is proberly the real reason
GTI manual PP, now sold  :-(
