Speakers Crackling

Ive had the same set up of speakers and amps for 3 years and replaced the two 6x9s as i blew them a while back. But recently ive been getting this bitty/crackling sounds coming through the speakers when i start my car. As the car wams up it quitens but continues to persist in the background of the music.

I guessed it was the power to the amps, so i checked the battery link up which was fine, and then made sure all the connections were fitted to the amp right, which there were no loose ends etc, nothing had come off. I then checked the earthing cable which was fine. But i still get crackling. Any one with a guess at what this is? its really driving me up the wall

no its not the alternator whine, its a bit/crackling sound. the music plays and beneath it is this bit sound until my car warms up then it goes away?? confusing? yes

Have you checked that the wire inside the speaker isnt touching the plastic cone and not coincedently moving away once you ve given them some use/same time car warms up.Only mention this cos ive had the same before and i had to push the wires every now and again.

nothing was touching. im just going to re fit/re wire everything hopefully will sort it out. such a pain though

Are the speakers out of phase ( "-" connected to "+")? Could the circuit board on the speakers be damaged?

out of phase speakers would not do this.


does the noise ''go with'' the music or is it random?

the crackling goes with the dynamic changes in the music, then theres this bitty sound always in the background of the track until the car warms up.

does sound suspiciously like shorting, I would describe shorting as like a cracking of a whip ( kind of) every time the bass ( or is it highs? its been a while) hits.

Its hard to tell without hearing it for myself TBH. Its nothing to do with phase though, what you are describing sounds nothing like alt whine either.

It could be some interference caused by some electrical equipment, maybe fuel pump, very unlikely though.
