Looking good Mr FroG. I think I've seen that the foglight is LED, but is the reverse light too, or is it just an ordinary bulb?

Question to those who know about these things: do you think the normal indicator bulbs in these new lights can be changed to LEDs w/o having to go through the hassle of reprogramming again?

It depends how its wired and what type of LEDs you get.
More than likely it will be one of two ways. a) Its wired the old fashioned way through a flasher relay. In which case it will flash the lights much quicker and think theres a bulb out. b)Its wired through the canbus system to each bulb and it will show a bulb out fault.

Yes, it'll give a bulb out warning but I think the system maintains the correct flash rate.

However, I think you can buy LED bulbs now which have a load resistance built in to prevent the warning. Or, how about adding a load resistor to the relevant adapter cables (so you don't have to cut the OEM loom) - I've seen 25 ohm resistors on ebay for this purpose. A quick Google found this:

I imagine they'll get warm though, so you'd need to make sure other wiring is protected from them as a precaution.

^^^^ shouldn't get too warm as the indicators are used too much. I had some LED's sidelights on my Mk5 for which I added in line load resistors which got warm but you could still touch them without it being too hot.
