Thanks Steve, I guess the indicators aren't lit continuously, so heat won't build up.

^^^ Normal bulb's in reverse and fog

On the subject of the fog light, it looks like the LHD one is LED??:

Are those the LED lights? If so, they would appear to use the same slightly odd indicator bulb as the standard filament lights. I know, I could just go and look at my own car, but I hate pulling that stiff carpet away, always think something's going to break

Steve, does that mean the UK fog is LED, or one of those weird bulbs?
Also is the weird bulb a W16W for the reverse light and a WY21W for the indicator?

Yes these are the LED lights I have taken the photo's of. And I know what you mean about the carpet. Try doing the reverse camera install, that scary for thinking your going to break something

Yep I beleive the UK one is LED too, I will double check in a bit.

And yes the bulbs are WY21W for the indicator, not sure on the reverse light but will check that on ETKA in a bit too.

New to science following the launch of the Mk6 Golf GTI: stiff-carpet phobia

Incidentally, I sprayed those weird orange indicator bulbs silver to get rid of the egg-yolk look. Yes, I know, I'm anal...

So you now have silver indicators rather than orange  :undecided:
Mk6 GTI  &  Mk1 GTI

I was talking about on the old, stock lights. And they flash orange as per normal, they just look silver when off so you can't see them through the lens. It's an old trick I've been using for years  I might try the same thing with the new LED lights I fitted, but I'd really like to have an LED bulb in there first.
