Dealer list price was about £465+VAT

I think in the end the total I got it for was £410 inc VAT. The adapter parts on their own are £45.

£410 all in is tempting. I'm sure FroGTI paid £350-ish all in though, didnt he ?

I would expect to be able to get it cheaper than £410 if I can get a few people interested.

Mr P.
Have you got your fogs/reversing lights sorted now ? and is it much of a job to make the adapters up,
I am down for a set of Leds but can't see getting much of a group discount unless we can get a fair few together  :undecided:

Yep all 100% working as of tonight, it was an error on the order and I ended up with a set of LHD inner lights, with the correct RHD ones and the coding set to 04 / 00100 it's job done

I would be happy to pre-assemble the adapters if that helps or you can get the slightly cheaper ones from ebay.de

I am trying to find a source for the crimp connectors as the repair wires from VW account for 70% of the cost of the adapters.

Incidentally, one big disappointment: the indicators don't use LEDs and therefore 'fade in & out' like the stock lights  I was hoping for Mercedes-style instant on/off LED indicators.
Maybe and i don't know this, this is a guess and without having a good look at how the cars setup. It may need the indicator bulbs in to flash at the correct speed using an old style flasher relay.

i missed that one, so the indicators are not Led's

^^^ I am going to check the bulb type tomorrow but like snoopy says it's unlikely to work as it needs to see the normal current being drawn from a filament type bulb rather than the much lower power LED's.

Look forward to hearing what you find out.

TBH I think they look OK without the LED indicators.

they actually do look ok, I think the brightness is concentrated more at the curve of the indicatior then not so bright as the indicator sweeps round towards the back of the car. I understand thats where the bulb is, but it just doesnt look very 'even' to me. Maybe this is the way its meant to be.

A quick recap on what I bought/did: 4 LHD LED lights @ €365 + 4 ready made cable connectors @ €39, all from eBay Germany (nearly all German sellers speak English). I posted example links above, but otherwise do a search on ebay.de using golf gti led heckleuchten or rückleuchten, don't forget the dieresis (the two dots over the 'u'). All parts are genuine VW.

The physical install is so easy that even Kev could do it; all the lights work instantly. However, you get error messages on the MFD when you start, plus a permanently lit yellow warning light on the dash. If, like me, you can't live with this irritation, you need to alter the coding using VAGCOM, as SteveP has said. My dealer managed to do it, but it took them a while to figure it out, even with the coding I supplied (there are millions of 0s and 1s in there). They didn't charge me, but I gave each of the two technicians €15 by way of a thank-you.

Total cost, therefore: €434 / approx. £380

VWKev, if this is still not information for you, take a look at SteveP's massively detailed write-up here: http://mk6.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=81.0

P.S. the guy who sold me the lights in Germany also threw in a rather nice GTI beach towel
