clutch pedal problem?????

hi,
my clutch pedal seems to only come back half way when the car has been parked for a while.
i pump it a couple of times,and it works again fine....could it just need bleeding?????
or is it someting more serious???

Is a 16v, if not then it is cable.

If it is hydraulic, if not it could be a cable problem.

Sounds like a slave or master cylinder problem, bleed the system through and see if it helps.

now guys please be gentle with me,
has any one got any pics of where i bleed the system???? it's my first job in the morning.

as it caught me out a few times today,and i would like to get it sorrted asap.

got in the car first thing this morning and the pedal had already comprressed half way down.(does sound like a bleed is needed)

are they expensive to replace???

Find the slave cylinder on top of the gearbox. Cylindrical object with a solid small diameter pipe going into it. There should be a bleed nipple at the end of the cylinder.
Bleed it as you would brakes and see if it makes a differance. Also check the system for leaks.

If its not this and to be honest it sounds more than a bleeding problem, you will probably find a seal has gone in either the slave or master cylinder, or you may have a leak in the system.
