I fitted an RNS-510 earlier this week, seems great although haven't had much time to play with it yet.

Climatronic info displays on the screen Ok, I can control basic functions with the MFSW but my understanding was some basic navigational info should be displayed on the Highline, have I missed a setting or is it a VAG COM job?

Also how can I check firmware and maps versions?

Graeme

Bump, anybody know on these q's?

To get the firmware: on entering the car i.e. after you unlock and get in, don't put the key in ignition, just turn the unit on by hand, immediately press and hold SETUP for 15 seconds, release and you will have the hidden menu screen.
If it doesn't work start over again.

Have a look at http://vwnavi.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51 as its where I got the above info.

Think that only works pal with firmware versions below 2660

To get the Navi display on the MDI  the RNS510 needs coding

You need to enable BAP byte 7 bit 7 on channel 37 Navigation.

Pre MKVI cars never had BAP so its probably not enabled

Does anyone know how to record voicetags in the navigation menu?
