ecu changed but still problems!

had the ecu changed over yesterday but the car still wont start. does anybody know what else i can do or look out for? ecu and fuel relay were changed as advised by len but still nothing

is there another thread so i/we can read the history of your problem as presumably you havent started at the ecu?

Yeah, what happens? Does it turn over.

I think the keys are coded to the ECU too, so I'm not sure if a straight ECU swap would work.
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge" :grin:, auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

I take it you've checked for a spark ??

If its early 95 onward it does have a coded key to immobiliser! If it is an early model  then it's time for vag-com

lol sorry people, yes it does have a spark the ignition and everything else my mechanic says is fine. the only thing i can think of is to get it programmed. the car is a 96 model, the new ecu is also from a 96 valver. i wasnt given anything else with it. the guy i got it off just said it should be plug and play so did another vw specialist i was talking to earlier

it is plug and play!! but it needs to be programmed to the keys otherwise the imobiliser stops it starting!! you need to take it to dealers get them to program it or find someone who knows how to do it with vagcom.

and i take it you have a valver? if thats what you got the unit off?
