Going back to op's original problem.
I would definately suggest fitting a spare set of tappets to see if the problem goes away.

Option 2 it is, if it cures it then i shall replace all the tappets for new,

 as i know the engine pulls well and gave good bhp on the rolling road  :cool:

How about another option - instead of swapping the tappets or the engine why not just swap the head. No probs then with different tappets and cam giving excessive wear.
