A lot of people say though that the 8v is better for every day driveability as the power is a lot lower down the revs. The 8v and 16v are basically the same engines with different heads.

Balls.

With them having galvanised bodies and german build quality, its a winning combination.

That's the problem.  They don't, so they rot.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Sorry scurbo.

I put some sale signs in the windows after work yesterday and got stopped on the way home by someone who wanted to buy it. he's bringing round the cash tonight. he offered a little more than i expected as well. gotta say, it's the quickest i've ever sold a car, 15 mins!!

Seeing as I need some money for my wedding next month, I may buy a mk2 with whats left (or is that tabboo on here?)

I payed 900quid for my P Reg 8v GTI 5 Door in Black, full year MOT, the day i bought it, 6 months Tax and only had (Unthrashed) 57,000 miles on it, Full service history. Was well chuffed with it, and its in spanking good condition.

I also knew the lad i bought it off, never drove it (in the army and bought a new audi)

Wish it was a 16v but then i aint that bothered about the power side of things anymore, I want it for reliability.
Even though my 8v is very nippy.

Black 8v GTI............. Whats a Waffle Valve?
