len is resident pervert - he'll appear (this is purely my honest opinion and is in no way a reflection of anyone elses opinion, but is going to happen. Chuff however is harmless although he's about 8million foot wide.)

Cheers guys!

I have this funny image of a trenchcoated flasher darting around the forum waiting to nip into a thread and......

Oh well, each to their own

Here's my to do list:

- Clean wiper stalk contacts and hope to solve recurring intermittent wiper problem - if not I will need advice!
- lacquer new paint
- sand rust off brake pipes & waxoyl
- fit new air filter housing

I suspect I've dredged up some crud from my petrol tank - my car died on me twice the other night (in the pissing rain). It's not long had a new coil for a similar problem which, whenever I tried to accellerate, the car simply lost all power. This time it happened shortly after I ran very low on petrol and I had my foot off the accellerator both times in this instance. After giving it a bit of welly it does restart, misfires for about a mile then completely normal again. Nothing showing on VAG com. I can't think of any other reason. Just had new sparks, rotor, leads, coil, battery under 1 yr, recetly given full service (inc. oil/fuel filters). Hoping it was just a clogged injector & wondering whether I should run a cleaner through the fuel system in the hope that that solves it?

Get rid of your rear lights!

Whilst I understand your passionate, knee-jerk sentiment toward said (vile) lights (agreed), I felt I needed some kind of waterproof housing to contain the bare bulbs therefore I felt your implication that I simply rip them off as fast as possible (an understandable reaction) and throw them away in carefree abandon a little too rash and a tad impractical   Don't worry I've finally ventured into the spider filled shed to retrieve the original lights - they are back on.

Yeah you'll fit right in here! Len has gold wheels and blue rear lights  :lipsrsealed:

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

Gold wheels
Ah well, still beats my rusty steel wheels

Was wrong about petrol clog. Having just broken down again this morning I ripped off the distributor cap in a fit of rage, (whilst screaming "goddammit what is wrong with you car"!) only to find myself covered in oil  The whole thing was just covered in oil. The rotor arm is flopping around like a useless bastard. Electrics all covered in metal fillings where the spring & spindle have 'oiled' itself loose and scraped around the inside of the cap. Only replaced the rotor arm a month ago so did not expect to find this mess!

Can't locate a 2nd hand part atm. Rang local VW dealership - £105 for a flipping distributor. Sod that. Right, I better toddle off the the parts section.
