Any other ladies here? Golf mkIII pics added
« on: 20 July 2009, 13:57 »
Just doing some respraying this morning and stumbled across this site.

I've been a VW owner since I had enough shiny pennies to buy my first car. Therein my obsession began! I started out with a VW polo (which obviously I wished was a golf - couldn't afford one), but I have a lot to thank the old girl for. Couldn't afford to get work done on it so I had to learn to do everything myself whilst my friends were taking their car to the garage to get a lighbulb changed - or even more pathetic (wait for it) getting air put in their tyres.  I would see their eyes glaze over after they asked what I had been doing all day and I launched into an explanation of whatever particular bit of my car I was fixing. Usually they would recommend I 'get a new car that was under warranty so all that stuff is sorted'

After many happy years with my polo, I finally got my golf. I very nearly didn't buy it when the salesman commented what a lovely ladies blue it was! But the engine sounded beautiful, that lovely VW whine and after some heated negotiation over the clutch I browbeat the poor chap into replacing it, taxing the car and knocking £100 off the price - I think I knocked his 'how to sell to ladies' patter right off kilter.

One day I might get my dream GTI - but for now I have my much loved plain old mk3 in 'lovely ladies blue', and as of today she'm got matching grill and wing mirrors  Hope you chaps don't mind me bargin' in - it'll be nice to chat to some fellow VW lovers!

Cheers for the welcome. I could spend hours on here!

I should be doing some work on my car now (the air filter housing is shattered and needs replacing - the hose is held up by an intricate web of string and duck tape lol!), but keep convincing myself it's going to rain any minute. Wish I had a garage - if only to hide my car in after seeing all your slick works of art  Looking at all your cars has demotivated to the point of not being arsed to undo a few screws

There's plenty of ladies on here already so you'll fit in just fine. Welcome aboard and lets have some pics of your MKIII!

If we're talking standing up to pee then lots! In terms of cars - no real difference except I often need help undoing bolts. In that sense, jam jars also get the better of me too.

Just wondered if there were many other gals on this site - I have yet to meet another female VW enthusiast. T'is all.

Just snapped some pics of my wreck - had some dodgy Irish guys cruise past and ask if I was selling it for scrap - the f&^%$£"g nerve!!!!!! I can understand why they thought I might be selling it as I was taking pictures - but SCRAP

Here's my baby with her newly painted wing mirrors & grill (still needs lacquer coat):

Rusty wheels - alloys definately on the shopping list.

Horrid lexus style lights - what the hell was I thinking! I want to put a gti spoiler on the back and I think I'll put the original lights back in or go for something darker & smoked perhaps. Once I get some more paint I'll do the pointless trim thing above the numberplate to match.

Newly painted wing mirror - I'm quite chuffed with the finish. Once the new stuff is laquered I recon the colour will be a pretty good match.

Thoughts, suggestions?
