Just doing some respraying this morning and stumbled across this site.
I've been a VW owner since I had enough shiny pennies to buy my first car. Therein my obsession began! I started out with a VW polo (which obviously I wished was a golf - couldn't afford one), but I have a lot to thank the old girl for. Couldn't afford to get work done on it so I had to learn to do everything myself whilst my friends were taking their car to the garage to get a lighbulb changed - or even more pathetic (wait for it) getting air put in their tyres.

I would see their eyes glaze over after they asked what I had been doing all day and I launched into an explanation of whatever particular bit of my car I was fixing. Usually they would recommend I 'get a new car that was under warranty so all that stuff is sorted'

After many happy years with my polo, I finally got my golf. I very nearly didn't buy it when the salesman commented what a lovely
ladies blue it was! But the engine sounded beautiful, that lovely VW whine and after some heated negotiation over the clutch I browbeat the poor chap into replacing it, taxing the car and knocking £100 off the price - I think I knocked his 'how to sell to ladies' patter right off kilter.
One day I might get my dream GTI - but for now I have my much loved plain old mk3 in 'lovely ladies blue', and as of today she'm got matching grill and wing mirrors

Hope you chaps don't mind me bargin' in - it'll be nice to chat to some fellow VW lovers!
