if you can afford it, then definitely get the superguard - 100%.  i have it on my mk 5 gti and after 2 and a half years and 35000 miles i don't have a scratch on the bodywork (the dealer couldn't believe it when i had it valued when i ordered my mk6!) - so yes, its defo worth it and in my opinion would be the first option i would add when ordering a car.  hope that helps!

Placebo effect? :)

In this case, because you've had something done that you expect to have an effect, you interpret subsequent events to reinforce your belief that an effect has occurred.

Like believing you've got better even though the pills the doctor gave you were only sugar.

I read the thread that Jules offered in his previous post... Man what? I think I will be fit as a fiddle after doing all that. Of course the car will look splendid but I might take a few days to recover from all the effort! I must congratulate Jules for his excellent guide with pictures! And I daresay it will allow anybody to follow the steps in restoring your car to showroom shine...

Just a quick question, when doing the waxing or even washing, why is it that you are not supposed to do it under direct sunlight?

Tar remover

ghetto fix thats really good cheap for removing tar is WD40.  I sh!t you not...

Oops, never though of that!! Thats what you get for living in the sticks and never having the chance for a trip to Halfords or the likes.

Think this answers my questions and im going to save some dosh and not get superguard as i clean the car 1 or 2 times a week anyway and was concerned about the tar showing up on the white.
