Tar and Super guard
« on: 14 July 2009, 12:25 »
Hey guys and girls

Im still waiting patiently for my GTI to arrive but was trying to decide about getting super guard or not. Does anyone know what it really does? Also since my GTI will be in white does it mean tar is easier to remove? Also does anyone know how to get tar off as i seem to have lots of little specs on my red GT TDI and since it shows on there i don't want my new white one to look a mess!

if you can afford it, then definitely get the superguard - 100%.  i have it on my mk 5 gti and after 2 and a half years and 35000 miles i don't have a scratch on the bodywork (the dealer couldn't believe it when i had it valued when i ordered my mk6!) - so yes, its defo worth it and in my opinion would be the first option i would add when ordering a car.  hope that helps!

How much is supergard ?

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Dont get supaguard! Its a huge con (confirmed by people i know that work in dealers)

A good wash, polish and wax is a billion times more effective!

For anyone who stumped up the money i advise you not to click this link

i'm only telling you my experience - every other car i have had got stone chips etc on the bodywork.  my mk5 had superguard, not a scratch on it.  now unless stones don't like red cars after 35,000 miles then i would imagine the superguard works!  :-)

lol will just be good paint, my 32000 mile R32 hardly has any stone chips either mate

The interior stuff is good but the exterior stuff is no better than any sealant. In fact probably worse as its an old product, something like Jetseal 109 sealant or collonite will spank it for shine, beading, longevity and cost!

Feel free to search on detailingworld, there several threads with the proffesionals stateing it does work, but not for long and not worth the cost.

I have detailed a few cars and can tell you first hand you will not see much more than 6-8 months from any product

(check my thread if you dont think i know what im talking about)

I do have it on here but that thread is updated with pics
