do you have a good exhaust already?? i have just sold my DSG and have a Milltek cat back going on the cheap £220 ( cost £489 ) this would go very well with a remap. I just bought the bluefin for mine made a big diff and can change back at anytimr. plus when you go away on holiday you can down load the whole ecu and make your golf useless until you get back ( no way is you car being knicked !!!! )
Any way buy my exhaust it needs a new home

Nope, shes got more than enough poke. I'm a strong believer that there is only so much power you can throw through the front wheels of a car and I think I'm almost there. The MK5 chassis is good, but I cant get my head around people that run 300+ on standard stuff without the need to then add MORE money on suspension and anti-roll bar and bigger brakes, it can easily turn into A LOT of money. My engine will remain how it is now as I think its prefect for me :)

Next is new wheels and tyres which requires lots more saving :( lol

I agree with you Alan on that one. My car is probably has similar spec to yours and I have no desire to make it more powerful either. I am also thinking about  replacing my 17s with the new (Genuine) Monza 2 Shadows early next year maybe we could get a discount if we buy 8  I want to wait until my tyres have worn down a bit, no point wasting money for the sake of it!

Loyal owner since 2005, done with remapping, I drive a Golf not a Veyron. (hypocrite)

You seriously need to take my car for a spin Alan

300+ bhp is easily containable. I've just taken my neighbour and a mate out for the first time in mine and they simply were staggered at how fast it accellerates, brakes, turns etc and how easily it did it.

Yes, yes, I know I've spent a fair bit on it, but like you say, a tuned car needs balance between power, handling and braking modifications.

You kinda made the point I was going to say in your own post. You have done QUITE ;) a bit more than just given it 300+ haven't you, you cheeky monkey you ;)

Especially living where I live you cant put your foot down for more than 100m before you hit a traffic jam / set of lights / Micra driver / someone crossing the road / old bill / SOMETHING will force you to slow down so lol :(

But on the odd occasion I get to have fun she NEVER disappoints :) I can only imagine how much more fun yours is but I just don't have enough disposable income to spend LOADS on her ( adding that CF front grille wasn't my finest hour financially lol) but dont get me wrong, I think shes perfect for me, I think Im in love  :embarassed:

I want to wait until my tyres have worn down a bit, no point wasting money for the sake of it!

Mine are running low, I can actually feel a lack of grip comapred to earlier on in the year and the wheels spin up MUCH easier than they used to, I think Iv'e got a few more months left in them and then its 18 time :D

(Toph has put me in a dilemma though, you know what you've done that man  . . . .)

Has anyone ever had the MRC custom remap? Thinking of having mine done and the precats gutted at the same time.

I've not heard anything at all about MRC remaps for the mk5.. which may or may not be a good thing?

You should deffo give them your RS4 to play with though.. they do some wicked things with those :afro:

I've swapped from APR to Custom Code and now I'm running a spot of REVO with a GIAC DSG remap.

I'm happy with the REVO stage 2+ as it gives me the flexibility to alter the settings myself for Boost, timing and Fuelling and then carry out data logging to see what the engine is doing with each setting.

Custom Code is good also, but not ultimately as aggressive as Revo, so if you want more power with a smooth torque filled flavour lowdown in the rev range CC is good.

I didn't find APR too much to my liking, but they do have good back-up and you can change the map through the cruise control (if you have it!).

hurdy what didn't you like the APR over the CC...interested as Awesome are down the road from me and they do the trial chip as well, but low down torque is always nice.  Why is the Revo more aggro, is it the way the power band comes in?  Did you get a port cable and software with the Revo stage 2?
