Have you had a read of this topic yet?

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=76797.0

Have a quick search (click search at the top, then advanced, then just tick the mk5 section box) for keyword remap and you'll find tonnnnnns of information on here talking about the pros and cons.

All that's left after that is to choose a brand, somewhere local or have a mobile tuner come to your home/work. There is also a section on this forum dedicated to ECU tuning, have a nosey in there

I had mine done at GTI international - I got the Revo stage 1 plus the select plus switch for 458 total - a bloody bargain if you ask me for the revo stuff should have been 499 +  249 + vat.

Do it - you will not regret it, the car, well it just does it all but so much better

VW want to keep the CO2 down (some Euro average or other)
It's you duty to finish the car to the proper power levels.

I've swapped from APR to Custom Code and now I'm running a spot of REVO with a GIAC DSG remap.

I'm happy with the REVO stage 2+ as it gives me the flexibility to alter the settings myself for Boost, timing and Fuelling and then carry out data logging to see what the engine is doing with each setting.

Custom Code is good also, but not ultimately as aggressive as Revo, so if you want more power with a smooth torque filled flavour lowdown in the rev range CC is good.

I didn't find APR too much to my liking, but they do have good back-up and you can change the map through the cruise control (if you have it!).

Superchips Bluefin is very good.
You do it yourself, perfect for those in the sticks.
