I have to be honest and say I was surprised. A very quiet tester who was very thorough.  I took it to a proper testing station rather than ones that were recommended for being forgiving as I wanted to know the truth!

The drive there was interesting, it only takes like 5 minutes.... shame... Was so strange driving it again after all this time and despite not being perfectly set up she pulled like fook at top end!  Down a twisty country lane in low gears and high revs to blast any leftover cobwebs, stopped 3 times as I was getting some nasty rubbing/wuring noise from the n/s front wheel when turning right although faded on the way back so hope it's just the new brakes.

Each test ramp has one man, my car ended up with four gathering round it and the younger lads were randomly asking me questions etc. The tester bloke was really nice afterwards and I look forward to taking it back in the hope of a pass!

Only pic I have from my phone before it's battery died.

Straight from work I got on the case. (In the dark)

Either the 2 day nut soaking worked or I’m just lucky, rear beam is off! Wasn't too hard at all.  Found some surface cr@p to clean up where it was mounted so this will be a good opportunity to do that and treat everything the beam hides.  I just hope the hoses come off as easily as the access to them is still pretty poor.

Sorry, wrong picture

Delayed post due to having too much fun with the car!

Ended up doing both sides as the one that passed wasn't that much better than the one that failed, also I always replace parts in pairs where I can.  The nearside flexi was almost impossible to get off, access is really poor at one end, had to remove the fuel pump to get tools up there.  Rounded off unions, smashed my knuckles up, moan, moan, wine etc etc.. In the end this little job ended up taking up most of my weekend... Anybody that finds it easy to keep their cool under pressure would have p155ed themselves if they witnesed the tantrums I was having!  Managed to get everything back on and the rear beam in place on my tod!

Been outside tonight since I finished work till about an hour ago. Bled the brakes (thank fook for pressurised bleed kits!). sorted my lights out, replaced the tie rod nuts and split pins with new ones...

In Short

Re-test tomorrow morning at 09:30!  She better give me what I deserve now.

Had a little drive here and there in it with a couple of  mates on board (not at the same time), first passenger was my friend who came with me to Inters on that fateful day.  It's very raw at the moment, minimal dash, no sound proofing or carpet.  It's quite noisy!...

Drove it in the rain which resulted in it getting ridiculously dirty and I had to clean it properly for the first time.  Wasn't sure what would be best on satin black as I already found out waxing it doesn't really work.  After a bit of trial and error Mer seems to work really well.  I really do need to sort the dents out and finish the paint!  This picture kind of hides most of the different shades of black!

Right.... I've worked too hard to let myself feck it up again and driving on an old cambelt is not wise.

New one arrived today so I will not be driving again until it's fitted!  I'm not looking forward to it though as I struggled to get the current one lined up perfectly.

In other news, lowered the car another 10mm which is it's limit as hard cornering scrubs up front.

Sadly she has developed an oil leak.. expected with old seals.. another job for chapter 2.

Fitted New Cambelt

Fook me, what a ball ache!

Car is running a little poor.  Turns out its a fueling issue.  I think the warm up regulator is dead.  Idles spot on now and drives fine but has lost it's urgency at top end as I haven't put the strobe or the gas tester on it yet.

Will try and get that done in the next couple of days, at some point when I'm flush I'd like to take it to a pro, especially when the clearances are sorted.  At least I can relax a little now with the knowledge that it's got a new belt on.

little bit of evidence, old belt didn't look too bad.

Really must look into the oil leak, it doesn't look good.  :undecided:
