Those open holes are only found on the very early GTI's (like mine as well).  VW stopped doing them like pretty quickly.  No one seems to know why...

Yeah, I don't think you see them on 55/06 plate onwards.  Even some late 05 plates dont have them.

I have just 4 holes on my 55 plater

The bloke who was supposed to be selling me the r32 rear lights just refunded me  say's he doesn't want to sell anymore... he's had my money for 3 days 

Anyway, they'll have to wait now... Just bought 2 new mirror indicators, cambelt, roller, tensioner, waterpump, PCV valve and bottle opener so i can use the cupholder. £158 all in so pretty happy with that.

Glad you finally got it, as for you mods, I fitted my in.pro smoked indicators last weekend, looks much better.

My ED30 didn't come with a bottle opener    Did you just get it from a VW dealer?

Yer, about a tenner + vat , but you can buy them cheaper on ebay when they come up TBH. I didn't realise it was as dear until i got the invoice at the end

I assumed if you had to buy it from VW it would be expensive.  Time to have a look on ebay!
