8v out of puff at 5000rpm....wtf ?

Didnt know mk3 8 valves were so sh!t....,

I got a 95 8v gti and its a load of pants i also got an 8v mk2 gti running a digi and it pisses all over the mk3.

The mk3 is out of steam at 5000rpm in all gears wth is wrong with these things i cant understand how an engine can be so pants.

i have to rev it until the valves pop out and jump allover the bonnet its shocking!!!!

should it be like this or is something wrong?

anyone else got the same problem?

Check your timing, if wrong it will go into safe mode.

as above,ive had this same problem on 2 different mk 3's!!although,they aint much quicker when fixed,haha.

how do i get it out of safe mode is it just the timing?

Think it is mate,mine went to the local vw both times.If i remember correctly,there was an issue with the maf sensor one time too?!

Check and reset the timing, then I believe leave the ecu disconnected for a short while and it should clear.

Thanx guys Anyone got a linky to show how to reset it and once done what sort of rpm is it suppose to peak at?
