Stainless exhaust
« on: 07 June 2009, 01:56 »
Im looking at replacing my exhaust next week, but need some feedback on viable options, (89 16v small bumper)  I want a system that will bolt to the O/E manifold, and will closely resemble the original system, with twin tail pipes, quality must be good, and price not really an issue, and any pics would be appreciated
Thanks
Tom

Hi Thom,

In the end I believe Super Sprint to be the best fit these days. For pics i believe Darn PB runs one of those systems and imo looks rather good. I can't give advise for small bumper owners as i have never owned one sorry.
I will say tho as a milltek person, if i had to choose tommoro i really think i would stay standard, for numerous reasons.

Ive got a supersprint one on mine, not sure how old it is tho.
For small bumpers its ok - sticks out a little way but the tip looks good when polished.
with big bumpers the tail pipe is pretty much flush with the bumper.

heres a crap pig with big bumpers,

and a not very good old pic with smalls

Mine is a Jetex one, but I am having problems with it.........again. The baffles in the rear box have gone so I am after a new one.
The Jetex is a nice exhaust and good quality, but it weighs a bloody ton and this causes the problems with fitting, rattling and banging. Saying that though, it was meant for a 16v, and my car is a G60.

You could always look in the yellow pages or do a google search for a local company who make you a stainless system to meet your requirements. Probalbly would not cost much more than a off the shelf system and you get exctly what you want.

I have a magnex full stainless system with two silencer boxes on it fully poly bushed. Not much louder than stock at idle, too old for that crap. Just bassy and really frees it up past 4k
Twin tailpipe design similar to OE, no photo's as I'm crap.
But not much different from Tubbs piccy

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

Hmmmm that's interesting, Though I would need my tailpipes to exit the rear panel at an angle, as in this pic

Ill give it a few more days to see if anything else comes up, Its a shame that Janspeed no longer do exhaust for the Mk2, as there stuff was of excellent  quality
