OK, so I phoned the dealer today, no wonder they've got some left! they want an arm and a leg, not to mention a pound of flesh as well!! it would have come to just under £600 with the vat! and not entirely of stainless steel,  had it all been stainless, I probably would have bit the bullet, and got the lot...
So, the hunt is still on, Ive got a few other contacts to try, and possibly getting a system made up.... nothings easy is it....

Down pipe back from longlife cost me £300, and they will probabley be able to do you a tail pipe design like the O.E one, give em a call you never know.
MK4 GTI T AGU, REVO Remap, BMC carbon box, Miltek cat back, Forge diverter valve, THS FR3 engine/Gbox mounts, Some random alloys, lowered on coilovers.
192bhp 212lbft torque.

Well, I bit the bullet and went for a Jetex system, supplied by Venom motorsport, service and delivery were excellent, with the system being delivered the next day, with no problems, and for just over £300...  fitting was a doddle, everything except sealer was supplied, and was all in place, and running with 1/2 an hour of getting it out the box, I would have prefered the tail pipers to have come out at a slight angle, to replicate the original 16V system, but I'm now getting used to the straight look of the pipes, best of all is the sound though, a quiet, but crisp note under normal driving, giving way to a healthy roar when running up to full chat, the winge that I have is that the standard of welding on the hidden parts of the system is not the very best, the wire speed on the MIG welder could have been turned  down a couple of clicks to produce a "flatter" weld,, though it has to be said that I am one of the fussiest when it comes to other peoples workmanship, it really is, just me.. :lipsrsealed:

The pipe naturally sits a little off centre, and protrudes approx 4inches proud of the rear panel, so not too chavy! all brackets on the new system were lined up with the original hangers on the body, rear pipe was held straight and all clamps tightened, it was a first time fit, with no banging or crashing while going over speed bumps!!  so yeah, really pleased with the system, and would give it a 8/!0 with only the welding holding it back

How did you get on with the reducer for the downpipe? I find it pushes the exhaust back just a little too far to line up properly over the rear beam :undecided:

I had no issues with the downpipe, the old system on my car was a genuine VW item, replaced by the dealer in 1998, service history backs this up, the reducer was fitted up to the "Tide" mark of the old system.. the rest fell into place, and plenty of clearance over the beam, I forgot to say in my last post, that I opened up all the female joints a few thou, with a joint expander, just as a matter of course...

I wish mine had fitted like that. Had to take the car into a fabricator to adjust the whole system at great expense. A couple of weeks later, the baffles in the rear silencer let go so had to get another back box. Luckily, I have just won one on the bay. So back again to Mike Stokes to get that one modified to fit the rest of the system. It just never ends!

How on earth did yours fit so easily!  :grin: ive had no end of trouble with mine and it still hits on the rear beam  :cry:

I've sorted my jetex banging issue - I've added a heavy-duty cable tie to each hanger, tightened just enough to still allow the exhaust to "bounce" on the rubber (helping to absorb the reverb noise), but the cable ties stop it bouncing beyond a certain point. A month later and all the cable ties are still intact and the banging has completely stopped.
