My K&N panel filter cost about £45 inc. P&P from Ebay.

I've got my pipercross panel filter at hand, going to drill some holes in the airbox on the drivers side, one question.... Do i need a cold air duct or is this optional? if needed wheres the best place to route the duct. many thanks.

Cold air duct is optional, but beneficial ofcourse.

I'l get a video clip of my induction set up sounding sweet so you can hear it

looking forward to it, one more thing khare.... Can i leave the original air intake pipework in for now? or will i need to remove it... if i remove it do i need to block the space...? if this makes any sense :)

yeah you can leave everything as it is, but the pipes that come with the airbox restrict it, so its best to get rid of them, both the one going from airbox to wing, and the one inside the airbox, on the top half.

can i make a few suggestions here,

although drilling the airbox is great for noise it really doesnt give much extra performance. due to the heat in the engine bay all you are doing is drawing hot air in. if your only after a nice grunt then fair play.

performance panel filter with a cold air feed is the way forward. its pretty straight forward to rig up. ive done various testing on this and the heat generated within the bay is incredible.  also smoothing out the air box and removing sharp edges will make a difference, seen a few mods in the past where a home made heat sheild is used to protect the airbox to.

dont get me wrong i previously drove round for a year with a drilled airbox but now im after more horses solooking for all the gains i can get!

Do you think hot air will make its way to the airbox at motorway speeds? Agreed that possibly on a dyno, even though it was a big fan infront of it, but at motorway speeds the radiator and airbox is blasted with nice cold air.
Drilling the airbox improves the performance, and thats a dyno proved fact.

Blazin.... I gunna get a cold feed pipe, have u or anyone got any photos of how it is routed? or explain :) Just went for a lil spin, think it wants more drilling :)

alright mate,

obviously at higher speeds there is more air flow passing through the bay so in a way you are correct. problem is (well not really a problem) most people dont drive at motorway speeds all day! dont get me wrong im not slagging people off who drill there airbox just pointing out that greater gains are had from a cold air feed.
