Heater Controls - Should they light up?
« on: 21 May 2009, 23:45 »
Hi, been out for a run tonight & noticed I couldn't see the heater controls at all.
Is that normal or is there a bulb or two blown behind them? (8v digi)

Yes they should illuminate, there is a bulb in there but its a sealed unit and is a nightmare to take apart without damaging it apparantly

The bulb you can get to easily - that removes with ease.

But stripping down the rest to fit LEDs instead just results in it snapping to bits! So be gentle.

OK, how does the control fascia come off? I can see the levers just pull off, does the rest just unclip or do you have to get behind the dash to unscrew anything?

Just pull the levers and knobs off - but I'm sure there is a couple of securing clips maybe a screw, but I can't remember

Once the control levers are off the fascia just unclips. Kind of push it down and try to twist the top out simultaneously and it will pop off. The bulb cannot be replaced without breaking the housing open. Your best bet is find a good un at the breakers or on ebay.

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

I have a guide on how to replace the bulb from when I installed leds. Should be able to follow it to put in a bulb instead of an led. Let me know if you want it and i can mail it to you
