I've owned my MacBook Pro for almost 2 years now, not had any AV software running on it, just run it out of the box, just decided to do a text on it, and this is the result:

In your face Windows, not ONE fault, over a million files scanned and not one issue.

This is why you need a Mac.

dude

i have a 15" macbook pro with upgraded HD, processor and RAM - it rocks, simple as - i got it as an investment to last me a few years

I run the full adobe CS4 design suite + LR2 and it can handle everything really easily, I mean, really easily... I have tried pushing this baby to the limit and it hasn't even broken a sweat

i have had it since feb and have switched the old PC i had on about two or three times since then....

learning to become mac is easy... I had a friend run me through it all within about 2 or 3 hours and i was fluent with everything by then... when you get your new mac I will post up a list of apps to download for free to make life easier for you

one of my favourite features is 'spaces' - this allows you to quadruple your working area and switch really easily between virtual desktops... think of it like being in an office and having one desk for your email and internet, one for your design work, one for your video production etc

the trackpad is a joy to use... scrolling up and down webpages is a breeze and just makes any pc that i use now feel completely clunky

your screen will show you what your photos will really print like... I suffered when using a PC as the screen calibration was shocking... now I don't have to worry...

this might help you decide between which mac to go for http://www.apple.com/uk/mac/whichmacbook/

the only thing I would say is that although I love the screen being so big it isn't as portable as a 13" - but it is FAR better than my old 17" dell 820 which was supposed to be quite good! - still fits in my crumpler with my camera though  :smug:

anyway... you have made the right decision. macs just work.  :afro:

What Guy said :)

Love scrolling up and down web pages using two fingers, so much easier than a button or using the scroll bar. Very fluent.

well i sorted the finance on it today   works out at £36 a month which i thought was reasonable for what im gettign and yeah its more of an investment for me as well and esp as you mention the screen calibration etc after having this for a while ill see how i get on with it, i used Macs at college so shouldnt be too hard to get used to it then if i feel the need may decide at some point to get a Mac book pro, well happy though cant wait for it to come !!

Their is an option to get it with a program called apeture 2 ? is this any good or am i better of sticking with PS or light room

if you can get Lightroom and PS do so

LR will help you organise, batch edit and process all the simple edits that you want to do on your photos...

LR has about five main functions

Library - for sorting through and organising your photos
Develop - for all your normal editing on your chosen photos
Slideshow - for viewing and exporting slideshows
Print - for printing
Web - for exporting to web via your chosen method inc FTP

I mainly use library and develop - for one of my photo projects I chose rugby as a theme... I was taking up to 1500 images per game and sorting through them all to find 'decent' ones would have been a nightmare without LR... I could tag the ones I liked with a rating and then work on them and if I liked the result I could re-tag them with a higher rating until I got my final 10 images... simples

LR is designed to integrate with PS easily and it does this by putting a "-edit" tag on the end of the image file name if it has been edited in PS... the work flow is smooth though, I mainly use PS for layer work, HDR and merging to panorama - but it leaves the base images untouched in your library

all really very clever  :nerd:
