dude
i have a 15" macbook pro with upgraded HD, processor and RAM - it rocks, simple as - i got it as an investment to last me a few years
I run the full adobe CS4 design suite + LR2 and it can handle everything really easily, I mean, really easily... I have tried pushing this baby to the limit and it hasn't even broken a sweat
i have had it since feb and have switched the old PC i had on about two or three times since then....
learning to become mac is easy... I had a friend run me through it all within about 2 or 3 hours and i was fluent with everything by then... when you get your new mac I will post up a list of apps to download for free to make life easier for you
one of my favourite features is 'spaces' - this allows you to quadruple your working area and switch really easily between virtual desktops... think of it like being in an office and having one desk for your email and internet, one for your design work, one for your video production etc
the trackpad is a joy to use... scrolling up and down webpages is a breeze and just makes any pc that i use now feel completely clunky
your screen will show you what your photos will really print like... I suffered when using a PC as the screen calibration was shocking... now I don't have to worry...
this might help you decide between which mac to go for
http://www.apple.com/uk/mac/whichmacbook/the only thing I would say is that although I love the screen being so big it isn't as portable as a 13" - but it is FAR better than my old 17" dell 820 which was supposed to be quite good! - still fits in my crumpler with my camera though

anyway... you have made the right decision. macs just work.
