Been here before, you have to take the wp pulley off to get the bottom plastic belt cover off, a bit dumb on the part of VW I think, someone has always been there before and chuffed the bolts, I got my spares form a scrappy, took bolts off three different cars to find a good set. IIRC, the 16v is much easier as you don't have to do this as there is no big drive gear to the dizzy, just a small idler. I'm looking forward to this job (not) on my 8v next weekend and I've already checked out the allen bolts, 4 out of the 7 have been na**ered before and put back........argh! I have some spares for the wp but I guess its back to the scrappy for the crankshaft ones. I'm guessing that someone here has a cunning mod for the bottom cambelt cover so it can come off without taking off the wp pulley...anyone?
