....

All these recent posts go to show is that, like colour, our individual appreciation of sound is different for each of us and is very subjective. It's well known that we each have different hearing capabilities - Some can't hear bass as well as they can higher frequencies etc etc.

Scooby's were nice in the beginning - very different sounding car. Now I agree, when I hear one I cringe. It screams chav

^^ Scoobys sound AWFUL!!! Why would you want your car to sound like that all the time????

You obviously have a very blinkered view. A non-chavved Scoob and an R32 sound pretty similar with a deep throaty roar when giving it some beans.

As opposed to the GTI which is a more high pitched scream, similar to the aforementioned M3.

As I said in my previous post, a Miltek soon sorts that out.

Believe me, the GTI sounds NOTHING like an M3

Its more Ford Focus

Back on topic....
I had an '05 Gti a few months back which sounded very clattery and diesel like on tickover, I was told it was normal but took it to my vw dealer and he found there was a problem with the timing chain housing and some other part that I can't remember!! all was replaced under extended warranty luckily as the work totalled over £1400
Get it checked out......
