Haven't read the whole post but can sympathise. Four men tried to break down my door with a hammer at 10.30 in the evening last week. My wife and I had just managed to get our 5 week old son to sleep when it happened. The police claimed they had almost certainly been after my car, a black GTi. The door did it's job but I have since had an alarm system installed and ordered a new door at a cost of £1500. Worryingly you would expect a PVCu door with a five point locking mechanism to be pretty solid, however, as happened to a house further up the street where their new Civic Type-R was stolen, they simply kicked the middle of the door through. The police also advised I install sash jammers as an extra precaution.
It is becoming very commonplace unfortunately, but crime normally happens in waves, so the fad will pass. Everyone just needs to be extra vigilant, but also remember that a car is just a car.
