Spent a good hour driving round known areas tonight with no luck.

I'm just so angry and feel gutted for my best mate.

Just a word of caution for people trying to come up with fool proof ways of out doing these idiots, at the end of the day its a piece of metal. If they want it they'll take it, whether they have to wake you up and threaten you or slip in and out in the dead of night.

Lets not all delude ourselves in to thinking a car is more important than life. I for one am glad this happened without any fuss, it means two people who I care about greatly are nothing more than a bit shook up and upset tonight. Please lets not have another story on here in a months time telling of something with consequences more sinister and life changing than a car being stolen.

This is becoming all too frequent an occurrence.

A reminder to those who have Revo and a Select Plus switch - you can disable your car when you park it up for the night. So even if the thieves break in and get your keys they won't be able to move the car. The engine starts, but the accelerator pedal is disabled, so when they put it in gear and try to drive it, the car won't move and eventually stalls. A great feature, but I'm guilty of not using it as often as I should because it is a bit of extra hassle having to enable and disable the car with the switch. :embarassed:

So they come back in and smash your families face in until you unlock it, or smash the car up for screwing them over....worth it?

They won't hang around if the car won't start. If having started the car and they can't move it within seconds, they'll scarper. There's a chance they'll have already woken the occupants of the house by the noise of starting the engine. They won't hang around to try to figure out why it won't drive. 99% of these scumbags will not risk encountering the occupants of the house..

With that attitude you may as well leave the door open for them.

Funny that as i know of someone who had them come back in and threaten to smash his face in, so he gave them the code.

If they have specifically come for your car, taking another few minutes to come back in and get your code wont stop them.

Unlucky for your mate then. He encountered the 1% I was referring to. I hear what you're saying, but rather than totally capitulating to these c*%nts, I'll take my chances by trying to prevent the theft of my property.

with you on this one aswell maxQ lol my mate once woke up with some geezer searching around his flat, ended up chasing him down back alleys of huddersfield with a kitchen knife, probably a good job my mate never caught him really

Just to add, a guy I know was woken in the middle of the night last year to the sound of two thugs trying to break the lock on the front door of his house while he was upstairs asleep. He came out to the landing and flicked on the landing and hall lights and the thieves fled. He reckons they were after his car keys (he has a BMW 325i). My point is most of these scumbags are spineless and will scarper if rumbled..

Sorry to hear about your loss. Hope things work out for you soon. Was burgled myself last year while out at work. The scumbags basically booted the front door in (a £1800 double glazed jobby) and helped themselves. Took the keys to my S2000 and Honda CBR1000RR. Got the locks/ignition changed on the S2000 but did'nt bother with the blade as the cost was too much besides, It was kept chained up in an alarmed garage. Thing was the scum returned several days later and tried to take both the car and bike. Lets just say they got a surprise

Globalisation is the future and I think that criminal punishments should be outsourced... maybe thieves like the one who took your car would think twice if they were shipped off to say... Saudi Arabia, for some proper punishment  .

At any rate, they wouldn't - literally - be able to do it again..

Just think of all the competition for contracts from other countries... crime would no longer be costing the tax payer a fortune. We could even push for compensation, whilst making them work in sweat shops abroad (making the same addidas tracky bottoms they nicked from JD).

You know what, thats a brilliant business idea.  I reckon we should go halves and present it to Dragons Den... we set up a Ltd Company and obtain contracts from HM Government to take prisoners off their hands.  At the same time, we contact sweatshops in 3rd world countries and offer them labour at half the going rate in their own countries - this obviously means we need a large amount of prisoners, but its not a problem as the past 25 years of government in the UK has produced plenty of dysfunctional people to populate the prisons.    

Its a no brainer    The only obstacle I can see is the law, but the way its going, I'm sure the government would have done away with any vestige of human rights etc... within 5 years and an incoming Tory government will deliver the coup de grace, leave the EU and so we won't be subject to their looney laws    I reckon we'ill be Millionaires within 6 years... we should ask for £200k initial capital for 1% of the company.
