Mk3 VR and 8v Subframes
« on: 13 April 2009, 22:51 »
Will the VR Bolt straight to the subframe in my 8v gti? Or do they differ?

Same for drive shafts? is there a difference.

Cheers

Mike

Hmmmm interesting. Thought the drive shafts might be, but not the sub frame.

Just checked vagcat, looks like the subframe is the same (1H0199315AA) however engine carrier is different.

VR6 : 1H0199200P

GTI : 1H0199200N

Shows lots of different part numbers for the drave shafts so I think they may be different.

Cheers! Good info there.

Might have to change the carrier then. Got a mate breaking a VR, so i can swap it from there.

Thinking about fitting a solid mount too? thoughts?

Going to be collecting the parts for the conversion over the next few months, and fit it with a very very handy mate towards the end of summer.

Fair enough, my mate just fitted one to his 8v mk2, rates them, but i have enough vibration as it is.

Might not be a good idea.

I would not use one but its your choice.

subframe is compatable iirc  frount crossmember diffrent

soild frount mounts are bad unless both rear mounts are good the bracket on the frount mount will snap at a later date
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

So it should fit onto my 8v Subframe then? No need to find extra parts.
