Thanks mate, will check it out, so if it's missing I can just get the cog as a replacement or the whole cable?

Ok, need urgent advice! got the engine side speedo out and cog is fine, but is the inside cable supposed to be loose, I mean I can pull it all out if I wanted.

If it is supposed to come out then maybe it has come lose on the clock side, if it is not suppose to pull through then I guess it has snapped.

And if it has snapped then do I replace the inside cable or the whole thing (outside aswell)

And what's the oil the cog is submerged in?

Thanks for any advice

if you can pull the inner cable out then it probably aint connected at the other end

there should be a bit of play in it as the cable has to bend round the back (or front) of the engine so naturally the inner cable has to be longer than the outer

might be easier just buy a complete (inner & outer) new cable and fit it. pretty simple job - and again not very expensive, bout ?20 inc vat

the little cog is submerged in the gearbox oil, which dont half smell bad!!

Thanks mate, just ordered one know will be in monday.

When putting the cog back in the oil does it slot into something? I am guessing so. How does it fit?

it just snaps onto the end of the cable, then you just put the cable into the hole and tighten  up with the wee nut, thats it

Aha, got in :) as the other end is loose when I put the cable back in I felt it slipping forward, think i got it now, i'll put the new one on Monday! Got to take the damn dash of again aghhhhhhh :)

and it does stink that gear oil, phew!

One more quick question if you don't mind, the needles on the clock have always been sticking, sort of stick at 2000 then jump to 3000 and so on, they sort of worked, all the rev counter also does it too, does that mean my clock are on the way out? or can I actually take the clock apart and grease it up somehow?

Thanks again mate

aye you can take them apart but it aint for the faint hearted.

if you make sure you put all the bits you take of in a sensible order(i.e. lay them out on a table) then it aint as hard

or take pics after certain stages so that you can look at it when your 'trying' to put it back together
