Just fitted Coilovers
« on: 06 April 2009, 21:02 »
Hey I fitted my coilovers on Sunday, all is good except one worrying thing. When I turn there is a sort of clunk from what I can guess  is from the top mount area.

There is a small gap where the top mount plate is not sitting as it was when standards were on, normal? The top mounts turn slightly when I turn.

Have I done something wrong? I have a very long journey in the morning and am worrying.

Its Nothing Major To Worry About, I Had The Same Problem When I Fitted My Coilovers!!

I Assume The Noise Is Produced When The Front Wheels Are Rotated Slightly Or To Full Lock, Stationery Or In Motion?? – This Is Due To The Front Top Mounts Not Being Fitted Properly And The Coilover Is ‘Popping’ Out Of It Holding!!

Simple Flip The 2[Two] Rubber Top Mounts Over [Picture Below] And Re-Install And The Problem Should Be Fixed!!

Spot on, will try this.

It is when it is stationary and at low-low speeds. Need to do this before I head off in the morning.

That is not mk3 top mounts and they will only go in 1 way so cannot see how you can turn them over.

Did you use new top mounts when you fitted the coilovers.

Well they only fit one way, your clonk could be normal due to the spring moving, I am not far away from you if it helps your welcome to pop over and I could have a look and listen.

I'm off up north in the morning. Going to get the top mounts off and see for any wear but if it dosn't stop could u have a look for a few beer tokens?

Anything i should do? Is it normal for the top
Plate to sit high?

My top plates look like wayned's picture, as do VRDans, not to that extent I think but there's a slight gap, I haven't ever worried about it but then again, I've never had any knocking since changing the top mounts to VR ones.
