Let's be honest here - all I'm after is the figures for a PCP on a Golf, taking into account my current car (if I decide to p/ex it rather than sell privately - on pistonheads if anybody's interested ;) )

The dealerships have actually had all the details too - it just needs the calculator monkey to sit down and actually crunch some numbers. And quick about it too. Otherwise I'd lose one of the cars I'm interested in.

Best keep looking as a backup plan then.......

Dan

What??!?

The guy I dealt with typed figures into a pre-programmed webpage. You can specify how much you want to pay per month and it works out the rest. Or you can say how much deposit you want to give and it'll work out your monthly payments. Took all of a minute in chatting to the guy and finding out the best payment plan on PCP.

Well that just makes their incompetence more obvious!!!

for the amount of effort that's required, I'm still waiting for this BASIC info.

Have you noticed that GTI Mk5 prices are going up?  Like most other owners I'm hanging on to mine, it's too good to give away.

Lindale VW in South Lakes were excellent but could not match the price of Allbrandsnew.
The car came back from it's first annual service at Lindale looking fit for an concours d'elegance show.  Very impressed.
If the Mk7 GTI is any good I will see if they offer a good deal.
Currently digging a bunker.

Well, I've just had a p/ex price back from a 3rd party dealer that's about £600 lower than what I'm asking for privately!!! LOL!!!

Kinda makes me wonder why the hell I'm bothering to sell it - just chop it in.

The only downside is that this dealer doesn't sort out finance :( And I'm quite taken with the PCP option. The car looks really good, but it has a couple of options that I don't really want (MFD2 & sunroof), but it is clean despite my not HPI'ing yet.

It does however give me a solid price to go to a VW dealer and start haggling.

not much to ask is it?

Speaking on behalf of our dealership, Des Winks.. I can honestly say I think were way better than those experiences youve stated.
We are a family run dealership (Des Winks being a person - who has since passed away, dealership since run by his son in law). We own only this one dealership, in this one area, so no automated answering machines for different departments of dealerships. It's just us.

I think I'll sell up and move to Yorkshire then! It's nice that there are still some smaller family dealerships left, as from my experiences over the years VW put a lot of pressure on the local franchises to expand and built big shiny new premesis and this was when a lot of the 'personal touch' quality of service left and the labour prices went skyward.
As has been said there are plenty of good people working for VW but the system and the not so good people let the rest of them down. Same goes for SEAT and Skoda too, I've no experience of Audi though being a pauper.

I once agreed to buy a BMW and gave the BMW dealer my credit card details so that they could take a £1000 deposit. They never took the money or contacted me again, despite having all my contact details. I never contacted them either and bought a car elsewhere. Amazing really that they get away with being so slack.

My dealings with the VW Wayside group have been no better - rubbish customer service.

Just had my second annual service carried out on Monday.

Very good service too. I'm on the servicing package and even though I'm on T&D servicing, I asked for long life oil to be used and they duly put it in and didn't charge extra for it. The car was hosed down and cleaned with a microfibre cloth (supplied by me!), which I allowed for a change as it was virtually spotless anyway  . No updates were needed to the software (I asked that they informed me if any were needed). They even took me around the car to check it was all fne

Top notch customer service, as it should be and always is.
