I have never heard of this before.

do you mean it goes with acceleration ( if so this is pretty common) but making a noise when you change gear is a very strange one as you should not be making/breaking/changing any electrical connection.

Is it a pioneer by any chance?  Alternator wine could be your problem.

Is it a pioneer by any chance?

^^^^they are prone to the internal earth straps breaking and causing this. It happened to me.....it is fixable with a home bodge. I'v got a picture somewhere....Is the sound coming from the amped speakers? Are the std speakers amped?

i no this sounds odd but does it sound like a supercharger whine becuase that means you power cable is interfeering(sp) with your rcs\speaker cables.

Called alternator wine, is your power cable on the same side as speaker wire/RCAs? It should be on the opp side.

Its an urban myth, i.e, it never happens.
