Thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard. Its acompletely different layout due to the haldex and some minor room is taken up. I have still had a microwave and a wadrobe in the back with ease  :rolleyes:

I put it next to my mums GTI and there is little difference. A worthy trade off for all weather traction!

Just read an amusing one about having FWD and it saving him. He doesn't half talk some poo! AWD will have pointed him out and gone straight.  :rolleyes:

LOL

But sadly, it aint just the carpet - the actual boot floor metalwork is raised by about 3½ inches to allow for the bulky heavy traction control unit Haldex and rear final drive.  :lipsrsealed:

Actually, it is a little more than 'minor'.  :wink:  The GTI (and all front wheel drives) have a boot capacity of 350 litres (VDA method), whereas the R32 (and other 4motion models) have just 275 litres - so at 75 litres, that is a fair difference.  :nerd:

Anyway, has anyone actually removed their boot carpet, folded the rear seats - and noticed if their zorst was louder inside?

Unless this GTI you are looking at has the space saver swapped for a full size spare, then I beg to differ.  Those three and a half inches actually make a fair difference.

gti owners chipping at r32 owners for having more room in the boot?

whoopy doo for you and your extra space.

r32 has kudos a gti isnt capable of mustering, in any form.

gti, especially ed30 is dynamically superior in certain circumstances, that is a given,
