16v might be 150bhp in place of 115bhp but torque matters and a 16v is only around 11lbs ft more.
HEAR HEAR!
people start going on about 8 v and 16v sh!t these days. As kells said in hi thread his well maintained and cheerful 8v beat his mates 16v....second 16v he beat he said.
The other day, i was following a cooper S on the way home, and we got onto the dual (duel) carriageway and from 40-60 he was pulling away very slightly but from 60 to 100 which was the speed we got to at the end of the carriage way it was neck and neck, i was behind him but he wasnt pulling away, and i know he was going flat out...FACT, people jabber on about how 16v are the better replacements for the 8v, but some how my dad never bought one, he always had 8vs, (6 of them infact) and he was a VW specialist for many years and used to race cars and bikes.....so he must of had a dam good reason why he had 8v and not 16v, his response was 8v picked up quicker and where more rev happy, he used to race in the twisties not on the straights.
