I still prefer the 8v
Thanks you, smoother and plenty quick enough for day to day use.

Its funny though how the 8v boys keep sniping and yet soon back away from a challenge!

Just have your Golf as a second car, and then you can relax and enjoy it for what it is. Just an old car whether 8v or 16v that looks good and allows you to enjoy how cars used to feel like.
It's just not worth getting bothered about either way.

The mk3 is a cruiser, and the 8v engine suits that perfectly. If I got a mk2 i'd get a 16v, as it makes more sense in the lighter more chuckable car.

I have to disagree as if its been lowered and on decent coilovers etc. the Mk3 16v can be better than a Mk2!

Now you really are talking chocolate. Guys, just love your car for what it is.. because no matter what you do to it or how fast you make it, someone will always be quicker.
.. especially if they have 24 valves

8v is just too gutless. 115bhp in a "GTI".... come on.
Im not having a pop or trying to put anyone down here. This is coming from an ex 8v owner btw.
