the small blue wire is to the alternator
i think you meant the chunky red/black trigger wire to the starter right? :)

grrr ive just been out and had another wiggle of the trigger wire and nothing so after that i left ign on and put a screwdriver from starter body to the nut on live feed and all i got was sparks so i think my starter is boned as im sure it should have turned over doing this

yeah if you connect the swiched contact wih the main one it should turn

THAT'S IF ITS GETTING AN EARTH

try adding a jump cable from the earth of the battery to the engine block

if this does nothing to help then change the starter

mine was a complete arse when i had my earth wire broken i thought it was the starter , rebuilt it and no better

the way i found my problem was

i used a mutlimeter set to ohms

connected to the battery earth to and the gear box

i had continuaty when the ign was off BUT as soon as the ign was put on boompf i got about 300 ohms of resistance

i stripped the cable off the car it looked ok on the outside but as a cut the insulation off it was absolutly knackered burned , green and really brittle

made a new one and perfect (after i bought a new ECU ) it got fried because of the earth path

it cant be ecu as you can pick them up quite cheap so it is going to be something like a single pole twin flange valve that costs £500 and needs £300 of specialist tools and a couple of professors at £1000 per hour to fit more than likely

make sure you get the one with the right numbers on it as they are differant

nah not expensave , mine was hard to get as the car had a cat from factory so needed the ECU with a lambda probe
