revision G is much better, unless there is this new one the US guys were on about.  Otherwise a Forge will do the job - more money mind.
But the forge one should last a lifetime...

Erm, nothing lasts a lifetime.  It may have a lifetime warranty (limited too ), and if sommat on the Forge DV brakes during normal use, then Forge will repair it or supply a new.  But it aint indestructable.

And you still need to service the Forge DV

Exactly.  At least the OEM G versions are fit and forget.

VW have FINALLY got rid of the stupid plastic diaphragm in their diverter valves? F*ck me.. only took them 10 years of failing to get that right.

Is yours a standard GTI, or an Ed30 - as the actual location is different?

For the standard GTI and the Ed30, it is "06F 145 710 G" - which fits engine codes AXX, BWA, BPY and BYD.  Pricewise, for just the part from a main dealer, look at around £22 plus vat.

Fitting-wise, on the standard GTI, it is bolted directly onto the turbo housing, at the rear of the engine - and is a tad fiddly to get to.  On the Ed30, it is remotely mounted at the front of the engine near the top, an is a doddle to get to - probably a 5 minute job!

Ive got a standard GTI... £20-£30 aint bad, im guessing it will take an hour to fit at vw so around £70

I might try www.germanauto.co.uk as my friend takes his BMW and says the service is excellent.

And they are a member of the "Good Garage Scheme" too (with some excellent feedback as well! ), so that should give you some piece of mind too.

I am tempted with Germam Auto for some work I need doing - my mate popped round last night and he recently took his (my previous) Leon Cupra R there - he was impressed and price was good too.  Then even collected his car !

Fitting is a pain - you really need to get the car on a ramp (or use a pit) - 30-40mins tops.

I took mine to an independent and he charged £30 for a half hour job.  It really does need a ramp as it's a b*****d to get to on the standard gti.
