way back to the original post

are you actualy leaking coolant or is it just the display bong warning telling you it's low

the MK4 expansion tanks/water bottles did this often particularly on frosty mornings
probably no need to worry if it's not actualy low

a new expansion tank for the MK4 was only £9 and not a major job even DIY

so they do f**k all really. what a con.
He's right, main dealer servicing is an absolute piss take.  Only useful for keeping the warranty sweet.

I hope people realise this is not the case. Warranties have to be honoured as long as the work is carried out by a competant garage using OEM parts. Why pay main dealer prices, put up with their poor customer service, and even lack of technical knowledge of their own product? Use an independent specialist that someone recommends to you.

defo needs looked at by the dealer for warranty claim if it's losing coolant
i know it's a MK5 you have but there has been other reported incidents on other forums of the same false warning of low coolant during cold snaps on the MK5

also read that dealers are changing corroded radiators on some MK5s

hope you get it sorted

I know thats the theory, and the law in fact but I've heard of a number of people whoose dealers snubbed them when it came to warranty claims as they had not had the service done to the required standard.  Then its up to you as the customer to prove otherwise / take them to court etc etc.  Assed with that.
