oh anyone got any ideas for 12v supply for the volt meter and boost gauge that i can use need an easy one to use as im no auto electrition.

I don't have a volt meter but you can take a feed from the fuse box all ok, lighting wise I spliced mine into the light switch, just get a test lamp and find the one that becomes live when you switch the lights on, the dimmer feed is a very small wire so was not sure with adding extra load so did not use it.

Earth wise mine had a common earth point by the steering column so I used that.

right i have a problem my gauges are smoked if you look at pic of it in pod faces are totally black so mine need to be iluminated all the time to see them, didnt think at the time about the bulbs in them hopefully can be changed if thay blow or maybe have led that last longer, so with my gauges its not a case of seeing them during the day with no lights on and then of a night thay light up with the lights need feed from ignition when car is running otherwise i cant see them, dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing to be honest i bought them as matched the blue dash of the golf and price was quite good, oh well might make a start tomorrow see what happens to be honest and will try and take pics.  :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:
black 5 door 18t aum engine with 19" lm reps and homemade induction, awesome forge 007p,pressed plates, pillar mounted boost and voltage gauge.

Smoked gauges are easy, hope this helps (you should / may only have 3 wires but they differ subject to what make the gauge is)

Red = Constant Live 12v +
Black = Ground/Neutral
White = Switched Ignition Live 12v +
Orange = Headlights Switched Live 12v + (becomes live with headlights turned on)

i think thats going to be the easiest way round it to be honest with you, just thinking with volt meter if i use 12v feed its always going to be 12 volts i really need to pick up a feed from alternator to see if its charging as you would get 14 volts from decent charging system.  :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

That is not the case, I tried one on mine from a wire into the fuse box and it showed 14volts.

both gauges have 3 wires red black and purple i think red= live black= negative and purple= dimmer control as per instructions volt meter only needs a live from ignition and an earth to work, boost gauge the same and if you want dimmer function needs to be wired to dimmer in the car which im not bothered about.  :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

Smoked gauges will not work on the dimmer circuit, my prosport gauge needed 2 feeds so it lit with ign.

think im going to have to take steering cowling off and have a fiddle with the multimeter and see if i can find something in there then.  :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

All I did was take 2 feeds from the light switch wiring.
