Been driving the manual one for over a year now and can still remember the feeling I got one I first got in it
For me it seemed to have bags of power and I had just come from a 2L petrol Mazda.
I hadn't driven a Turbo Diesel for years and was expecting to feel the turbo coming on like previous TD cars. But this one just feels as if the power is there constantly.
On the motorway in 4th it has tons of power. It just pulls so effortlessly.
You do need to be aware though of your speed on the speedo though as it is so easy to going well above the limit and not realise.
I had a clean licence for 15 years then got done twice in the space of a few weeks!!

My only gripe is it is really easy to stall. Not when taking off but when slowing down. You can't let the revs fall and then change in to the appropriate gear as it will just stall.Thought it was just me until I asked the same question http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/306539.aspx

Steve: I must get some paddling lessons from you at some stage. You are the DSG Emperor IMO.

I used the paddles that much on my MKV that I had to get them changed under warranty, as the rubber coating had worn off

I also find the paddles very handy for changing down the box to slow the car rather than using the brakes.

VED changed in 2010 from memory i think its:-

A Free
B £20
C £30
D £90 GT Man
E £110 GT DSG / GTD Man
F £125 GTD DSG

DSG Gear Knob is far better in the GTD though. I hate the GT DSG Gear Knob. it would be the first thing i would change if I had a GT.

I wanted a 3 Door DSG GT but it does not exist
