I've just got out of my mate's new company car which just happens to be a GT TDI DSG.
Superb car, love the DSG mated to the Diesel engine, it pulls so well and I reckon it is so much fun to drive (you can use nearly all the power a hell of a lot of the time) that you would probably get lots of points on your licence quite quickly!
Nice comfy and grippy (sort of a suede type stuff) seats, and the cabin seems less cave like.
Only downsides are: the suspension's a bit wobbly when you're driving like a twit and it looks a bit crap unless you get the optional 18'' wheels.
Very nice car and I could happily live with it, but for the same sort of money I think I'd rather have a Leon FR TDI DSG.
‘25 8.5R, ‘23 8R, ‘20 8CS, ‘19 135iX, ‘19 TCR, ‘17 Ed40, ‘17 GTD, ‘15 7R, ‘13 GTI PP, ‘11 GTI, ‘09 GTI, ‘98 Ibiza Cupra, ‘05 GTI, ‘06 Polo GTI, ‘04 GT TDI, ‘05 Fabia vRS, ‘02 GTI T, ‘03 Ibiza TDI 130, ‘01 Leon 180, ‘89 mk2 16v, ‘99 Ibiza TDI, ‘96 VR6, ‘98 Ibiza TDI, ‘92 VR6, ‘88 mk2 8v, ‘92 Polo G40, ‘91 mk2 8v, ‘89 mk2 8v, 205 GTI 1.9, ‘83 mk1 GTI, ‘80 Scirocco GTI, plus some others I’ve forgotten

No but got a GTD and its an awsome car with DSG, very smooth and refined love it , its also worth the extra money IMO :smug:

I wasn't dissing it, but one mans 'worth it' is another mans bollocking off the wife. For me, the extra per month on my company car list didn't justify the additional gain in power.

Er, so went for GT and getting a remap

I've always been a TDI fan. Had plenty of the things and have often said on here in the past I'd have been just as happy with a GTD as my GTI. I bought my GTI as I got a few grand off and a good part ex price and there were no available cheap GTDs at the time.

Well, I just got back from driving basically steve30s car with flappy paddles and dirty great big bilbao alloys. Not sure they suit to be honest.

Anyhow, the car is a dream to drive, so effortless, and the gear changes in some cases are un-noticable. I did notice that it went a bit bananas when climbing a long hill with a bit of a run up, sort of shifted up 1, then down 2, then back up 1 again when it could have just stayed in the gear it dropped too. It certainly gathers speed quickly, and inside the engine is dead quiet as are the shifts. Road noise from the wheels is rediculous though. Would recommend different tyres and smaller alloys.

I would get the DSG, flappy paddles are completely pointless on the diesel really, and I only used them because they were there. DSG does put it up a tax band though.

I'm not really up in what things cost to tax, but I think the manual is only £125 a year, so the DSG shouldn't be that much more.

I'm going to have to try and blag something with a DSG from the dealer that she can have a full day driving it before she totally dismisses the "auto" out of hand.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Puts it up to £155 a year.

I'm still undecided on manual or DSG. Need to have a crack in one of each of the CC's with manual and DSG to make my mind up.

I think the paddles are a must on the GTD Slick, use mine most of the time for overtaking  :smug:

My motor is 125 quid a year to tax

Steve: I must get some paddling lessons from you at some stage. You are the DSG Emperor IMO.
