DSG is the best auto box on the market, no comparison.  Yes some will go wrong, its the nature of the beast. The iPod is popular and some of those go wrong, fact of life!

Lol, being a Mk2 convert, this just reeks of the 8v/16v debates.

Thats an amazing price, a lot of garages charge more than that for the cambelt alone.  Bite their hand off!

Mate, Alfa comparisons are never gonna be taken seriously!!!

I had DSG in my Scirocco, it was alright but went for a manual in the MK6, much better (for me).
Ahhh I should have known  Said it to show how good the DSG is though, when complaints max out at some juddering when a service is due and the very rare story of a replacement things are pretty good. Selespeed boxes barely make it to the showroom, nevermind off the forecourt
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

i have a problem with mine, it just has no response when cruising sometimes (lifting aacel to go into bend without using the brake reapply the accel and nothing happens, put foot flat to the floor 1-2-3 secs later it will change down a gear and zoom off like a nun from a streaker) its been to the garage, they say.. COMPUTER SAYS NO.. other words no faults showing.. grrr... also when going to pull out of a junction on rolling start same thing 1-2-3 nuns on the run just with cars heading for ya, lol. (NOT SCARES THE sh!t OUT OF YA). if i lift then reapply it will work as norm but  WTH  :( ....... any ideas.......... just booked it in for dsg oil+filter change, its due soon and ya never know :)

well just got it back after dsg oil+oil filter change + cambelt change and its still doing it, will test again 2mowow, if persists vw ere we come.. AGAIN :(

The main reason I got a manual was because I'd read of a problem with DSG on some other forum. This was almost two years ago. There are times when I've been happy with manual but there are times when DSG would have been more fun. Then there are the times I've rode shotgun in a DSG car. Just smooth acceleration all the way through the gears. Sometimes, I am jealous. Sometimes.

maxie - if it's the same as what I get on my DSG then you get that moment when the car don't seem to do anything when you're ready to pull out at a roundabout, and you have some brown trouser moments   I've mentioned it to people before about 'D' on the DSG and when you say, "it just doesn't seem to take off quick enough" you see them look at you like "oh yeah, boy racer!"

I just have a habit now of slipping mine into 'S' when I'm coming up to a roundabout/junction cause it then drops 2 gears anyway, so you've got the power to pull away - plus it's a lot more sprightly off the line anyway.

I got an APR remap on mine the other week, wondering if part of it may have smoothed out the 'D' slow start issue, but it didn't.  Hurdy has a remap on his DSG I think, which must mean he can put more power down and perhaps sorts that slugishness out?

Unless you seriously are talking 1-2-3 seconds (and not just feels like it when a lorry is hurtling towards you on a r'bout ) then just take the service guy out in it and he will be able to see it straight away.

i would take it in but its intermitant, wich makes it a pain in v ass... did the oil etc etc left the garage and it was play'n up all the way home, went for a cruise up to buxton etc and nothing, ran fine apart from 1 moment, went shop'n today alls fine :) but go tomorrow and prob be a pain again :( so as you can imagine its a grrrrrrrrrrrr...lol.. i think its a case of just wait'n to see if it gets worse so then will be easier to show the problem, or better yet shes decided enuffs enuff and all will be fine...lol. heres hope'n A :)
