Hi

I have a DSG car and have always been for it and from the point of view of driving the car i love it and always have until the weekend, its now in the VW Dealer for the next two weeks while it has a new gearbox fitted all because the Input Shaft bearing went.

The main issue i have is that no-one inside the dealer network is allowed to work on the box it just has to be replaced.

I am now reassessing my next car as i was looking at another GTI or Golf R.

Don't know of a single person to have trouble with their DSG. I have seen threads of trouble after excessive launch control use but outside of a long track day drag racing or acting like a scumbag everywhere, that's not a problem for 90%+ of people. Oil starvation or not getting the oil changed at the correct time can cause problem, but that's just poor car care. Negligence will cause trouble with any car and transmission.

I've got a Mk5 with a VAG (Voice-Activated Gearbox)......

I shout at mine, "First, Second, Third" etc......

The only problem is that ever since I've owned it, it's had a juddering gear-change.....

Think it's something to do with my stammer......
