the small blue wire is to the alternator
i think you meant the chunky red/black trigger wire to the starter right? :)

Just disconnect this small blue wire at the connector block and the engine did not turn over. I noticed this when I changed the gearbox too.  :undecided:

hmm, you need to check your wiring! all this does is control the battery light on the dash...
unless its part of an alarm or something.

do you have a picture of it, i am intregued!

ez jonny.

That small blue wire that goes to the alternator. My alarm must has something to do with it then?

If i disconnect, the engine will not start. No starter motor. the fuel pump primes up and ignition comes on etc but no cranking

The wire was corroded at the connector block which sits around near the starter motor. I replaced it with a straight wire.

Been ok though but this is why i mentioned the blue wire. im guessing its a fault with my electrics :embarassed:

hm thats a new one on me! kinda handy though as without that wire the alternator wont charge the battery.  out of interest, does the battery light come on with the ignition and go out when the engine is running, both with the wire connected and disconnected?

i think it maybe something for the alarm ,

so it knows the engine is out or running

maybe some sort of "turbo timer" in the alarm :)

what alarm is it ?? who wired it in ??
