The idea for this thread has been shamelessly lifted from the US forum. Should inject a bit of fun and help promote bonding or bondage, which ever takes your fancy.
I'll start:
I am seasoned citizen, being 63 years young. The Manual GTI keeps me young, excited and enables me to use all my limbs. I also have a Mercedes C Class 350 CDI Sport 7 speed Auto which I don't give a toss about.
The love affair with the GTI keeps getting stronger on a daily basis and I am getting a bit concerned with this amorous relationship as is the rest of my family. Tough titties to one and all, I say. I'm up in cloud nine. :smug:
I wonder if UK responses will be as eloquent and fun as those from the USA.

I do worry about you Asker. You're exhibiting all the signs of a http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Mechophile (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Mechophile).

Don't, and you are off topic.

I'd say my 29 year old wife keeps me young
My GTD keeps me busy with R&D, I really like my golf and it's perfect for it's roll but I love my land rover, every time I climb back inside I just feel at home, it does everthing well and you can do anything in it anywhere! Plus all of Max's stuff is easy to load into the back of it
In short if it was going to be the golf or the disco it would be the golf going, but it's great to have both

Well I'm not that far behind him at 55. I wouldn't say it keeps me young as I've always loved sporty cars and motor bikes. I didn't opt for the GTI as its a boy racer car with poor fuel con and they tend to get pinched a lot. The GTD suits me fine.

Diplomatic as ever
I had to ditch my R1 and XJR1300 motorcycles when baby Max came along as per promise I made to myself when I started riding on the road, I have been looking around for a reasonable S/C Atom to replace them but they are hard to find in immaculate condition

My neighbour has an Atom and hardly uses it. I'll ask him if he wants to sell it when I next see him.

My GTI keeps me young(ish), mostly because it gives me an excuse to have a bit of childish banter with likeminded individuals on the forums where I've 'met' some great people. The car itself bores my arse off though! Well, it did before I added a few bits to it, now it's just slightly dull.
I also own an elderly Ibiza GTI, I prefer it to the Golf to be honest, it's old and not immaculate so I don't have to worry about where I leave it. It has good alround visibility and makes a nice noise. It's also quite pretty and has character.
The only downsides are the fact that it's a bit slow and the ride is hard. So that GTI could keep me young I guess(?)
The last GTI I really liked was my black '91 8V GTI, I didn't realise how much I liked that car until I sold it - on my Birthday! I sat through my Birthday meal and couldn't eat a thing...... That was a good few years ago now and I've never become attached to a car since, they're all a bit dull.
-
Due to my ripe old age, I drive like a transexual lesbian granny with large hanging gynaeomastia which inevitably get in the way. The manner of Wolfgang's handling me and vice versa are a breath of fresh air and most invigorating for one who nearly lost the will to live a very charged and varied life. With the long horns of Bruckner Symphonies egging me on, I now feel like a hysterical but happy school girl.
I am trying to instill some humour into this thread, but it seems an uphill struggle.
-
I'd probably love my GTI more if it was a GTD DSG.
I know I'd love it more if it was a 22 year old blonde with a rich Dad, only trouble is that a 22 year old blonde would find me a bit dull......back to the drawing board.
By the way, what's a Bruckner, Asker?

Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) was an Austrian (or German?) Classical Composer and his music is just brilliant.
Listen to his symphonies and you'll be transported into Heaven.

Ahh, a nice ballsy marching symphony, funny how many great composers were German/Austrian and that sort of area. I wonder if that's what inspired those countries to go around invading each other every 10 minutes back then? You know, the sound of a good symphony ringing in their ears as they trampled over each others fields and bayonetted each others babies. Ahh, the nostalgia of it all.....
Thinking about it, it wouldn't actually have to be a 22 year old blonde, the blonde in the corner house is very pretty and definately older than 22.....

Are you positive she is a true blond?
I am not into blondes as I have been sorely disappointed when I've discovered in the bedroom that they were fake. No brunette could lie in that brazen way.
-
I think she's a real blonde. I don't really care as I'm not likely to ever find out. So I'll just dream that she's a real blonde.....
-
I have been driving GTIs for the last twenty years and can't think of any other car I would buy that gives me the all round ability of this car.
I looked briefly at the GTD but as I am only doing 12000 miles a year it would only save me about £30 a month on fuel and the GTI sounds and revs so sweet. Cant see me ever buying a diesel.
So I still think I am still 20 years younger
-
Well, I'm 46 years old and feel like 96!
The reason? I sold my beloved ED30 MKV and bought a Lexus IS250 Auto (AKA The Partridgemobile). Wonderful spec, but about as interesting as watching the TV test card (for those that can remember it ). I can't wait to get back into something VAG to recoup those blossoming evergreen years of my youth that my last car gave me

Like eating flower those things, may the Lord bless you and keep you safe from non-VAG related vehilces in future

:embarassed: Err, thanks (I think) Herr Doktor, but really; you shouldn't encourage me. I need sympathy for my mid life crisis.

Herr Doktor is a wicked two timer.
He should be kinder towards this post madonna.
Lucky escape.

The GTI has breathed a bit of new life into me anyway. Although I'm only 38 so not quite ready for the knackers yard just yet.
I love the car and can see myself owning a few more different Mk Golfs in the furture.
Who knows the GTI maybe the secret to eternal youth....... and if not just make the most of it until one of these suddenly feels like a bloody good idea

Interlagos wheels or black Monza Shadows would be perfect for that pram!

Great to see other folks as old as me [64] being nutty about their cars. After owning a 2.0 TDI, we recently bought a carbon grey GTD DSG. I've just sold my 270 kw Holden ute because it was such a boofhead and was no quicker than the GTD anyway. Have fun while we can I say. When the side of my boot touces the road while riding the bike I do slow up a bit though! Oldies rock!

We are the baby boomers. I bet some of these young p!ssers who can't p!ss straight are clueless regarding this term.

I've had comments from 10 to 70 year olds.
From "cool car" and "that's a GTI!!" to "nice looking motor car, is it as good as they say?"
True. :smug:

It's late and I've just got home. Doing what might you enquire? Well, taking Wolfgang for a very fast and long blast along some very empty roads. I love that car. I went at some very naughty speeds and got away with it. Very reminiscent of times when, as a schoolboy, I indulged in some very risky performances right under the noses of my Jesuit Priest teachers! Felt so good.
Goodnight.
