I did 134 on a private runway in my 1.8t. Front end started to go light and i bottled going any faster. Top speed of a 1.8t is meant to be 135 so I'm guessing the dial would say about 140-145..

Well i've been 210 in an old shape innocenti cooper s mini...........thats kph though which is 120mph and that was the fastest experience i had for some while.....been faster by alot in other cars but they feel alot less due to aerodynamics and modern day running gear etc. the cooper s was a 1974 import.

theoretically speaking if my car were on motorway at night and if it were put in sport mode and the accelerator pedal were to be pushed all the way down then it would, in theory, be able to go 145mph at which point the driver, being a bit scared, would lift off well before the car reaches it maxium speed as the speed was still increasing. theoretically speaking of course.

Norris designs evo is the fastest in the world at over 200mph but thats running around 930bhp and 740+ft-lbs of torque :shocked: and roughly £120,000 spent on mods alone
Fastest i've been was 170ish in an Abt tuned and derestricted S4 running 510bhp on an autobahn back to the airport from a factory visit and running late for a plane :grin:

I hit 151mph in my mk1 on a mile 'sprint' with all the timing gear strapped to my car for a magazine shoot. The car wasn't built for top speeds though.
My ZX12r was limited to 300kph and I rode that as fast as it would go. I doubt it was 300kph/187mph as my shoulders were sticking out too much so I reckon around the 180mph mark.

edit - Isnt top speed dictated by the gearbox though? As in the final drive will only be a certain speed, regardless of power? The top speed of a 220 turbo is 146mph

back home in SA my brother inlaw had a heavily tuned opel kadet super boss,big turbo,extra fuel injectors,God knows what he did to it but a true speed of 304 km,not sure what that is in mph,i was the passenger as he didn't allow anyone to drive it.

Was caught slowing at 137.9 for 1.1 miles. Had to go to court and was given a 6 month ban and $500 fine (pound sign does not work!)

122-5 ish mph im my current golf, topped it out at 120 before and thought it would not go faster? ha ha always a bit confused though as when i had my late mk2 8v it would do nearly 130? the one i have now has a tuned motor and the same box but struggles to go over 120!! dont understand and dont really care cause its still making me smile everytime i floor it! ha ha! :smiley:

you want percieved speed try 50 mph in a 1956 morris minor with wooden brakes and about 3" slack on a 2' wide stearing wheel down a country lane, or anything over 70 in a proper - non plastic - beetle, outstanding handling and state of the art aerodynamics.
real speed is much better on bikes, 140 between roundabouts in milton keynes, through the traffic, feels like flying.

Yeah dual good to do some 'testing', forest road (not that bumpy), race course, mili road.. Mili bit harsh with cheap coilovers and polybushes though :laugh:

Feels like i can take off down mili road cos its so bumpy,even when i ve done it on standard suspension. Did a lot of "testing" down forest road last year early in the mornings but then a bird hit my windscreen at 100 one morning lol

from the start i had a 1L mini topped at just over 110 not running good haha i was a passange of my dads scooby clocks said 160 and it was flying and driver myself i had a vauxhall corsa with a redtop engine in chipped exhaust castcost head no limiter running 155
back of bikes i went on the back of a busa at 185

I think when overtaking a fair few cars on the motorway, slightly downhill. I hit 95 on the speedo? Felt like it didn't have that much more to give.
That was at a push. Before everyone waves the Jesus wand, yes it was speeding but I honestly just stick to 70 on the motorway (it's more effort keeping it faster. :grin:) but with all the two lorries over taking eachother and slow cars around, I felt far more safe and comfortable at the indicated 95.

Crappy old H reg Fiesta (first car) 110 downhill with wind behind me goin the clappers!
mk4 GTTDI demonstrator tuned by Zoom from Blackburn (now closed down) 132 on a good day when hoses, turbos and intercoolers were behaving.
2002 Renaultsport Clio 172 Cup with a few mods 141
mk 5 GTI (standard) bottled it at 140 with 4 of us fattys in
mates Skyline R32 v spec (highly tuned) 163
and as a passenger in his dads 360 CS 170
Anyone who likes a good, rewarding drive, I cannot reccomend highly enough visiting the Isle of Man and making use of the Mountain Road and various other routes. Very, very good fun!

Nope guy called tom
he had a stage 3 s14 too but a piston ring is on it's way out and costs too much for full engine rebuild so he's probably selling it for parts :cry:
awh no! my mate had one, was stupidly quick could do 160 easy, around 370bhp. full engine rebuild cost around £4k on his lol.
