Final service that I plan to do carried out at 217k miles.
Major service, along with brake fluid service and air-con service (both due later this year). So hopefully no haggle points when I come to sell, also asked the garage to investigate a small but regular top up of coolant. Unfortunately (fortunately??) they found the water pump to be leaking. Whilst there was some underbreath grumblings, I can't really complain as that's the original 2009 water pump from the factory.
I can now claim 'Bingo' on the top 5 engine failures (according to the Humble Mechanic) over my ownership for a 2.0 litre TSI engine: 2 x inlet manifolds. 1 x failed timing chain tensioner/chain slip, 2 x Carbon build up, 1 x oil leak (rear main seal) and now one water pump.
Water pump has been replaced.
