LOL, I know Snoopy, that driver's side switch icon really does provide exclusivity, preferential parking at most UK supermarkets  and complementary Ferrero Rocher at Christmas.

Final service that I plan to do carried out at 217k miles.

Major service, along with brake fluid service and air-con service (both due later this year).  So hopefully no haggle points when I come to sell, also asked the garage to investigate a small but regular top up of coolant.  Unfortunately (fortunately??) they found the water pump to be leaking.  Whilst there was some underbreath grumblings, I can't really complain as that's the original 2009 water pump from the factory.

I can now claim 'Bingo' on the top 5 engine failures (according to the Humble Mechanic) over my ownership for a 2.0 litre TSI engine: 2 x inlet manifolds. 1 x failed timing chain tensioner/chain slip, 2 x Carbon build up, 1 x oil leak (rear main seal) and now one water pump.   Water pump has been replaced.

Got a few bits still to change yet then from that list. Only had intake manifold done so far but think need carbon removal doing. Still a bit worried about tensioner/chains though.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

A sad day, after 11 years' of ownership and at a final odometer reading of 217,076 miles. I've finally sold my Mk6 GTI, its new owner collected it this afternoon.

Was on Autotrader for just over a week.  First caller ended up buying it.  Hopefully the new owner will look after it and enjoy it as much I have.

Demonstrates I think that despite a high mileage, a cared for car with full service history, 11 years' worth of invoices and maintenance records can still sell.  And for more than double than what WBAC offered - though it was always going to be a private sale due to its age.

Hoping the Mk8 Clubsport will bring as much driving enjoyment over as many years.
